Kofi M.N.B Nartey is an award winning filmmaker and an alumnus of the NATIONAL FILM AND TELEVISION INSTITUTE (NAFTI), with 33 years working experience as a private entrepreneur in the multimedia industry in Ghana and West Africa as a whole. His works include, award winning films ‘’Précipes’’ and ‘’Blemish’’ played as part of NAFTI STUDENT’S FILM FESTIVAL and won many awards. ’Recipes’ also gained an honorable recognition at the CILECT-FILM FESTIVAL in SLOVAKIA-Karlovy-Vary (1985) all of which he scripted and directed.
“Back Home Again” which he co-produced and directed won the 3RD Prize in MILAN 1995, CINEMA AFRICANO MILANO ITALY. It also played as part of many film and video festivals including AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL, FRANKFURT. AFRICA ALIVE FILM FEST, U.K. FESPACO OUAGADOUGOU 1995, 5TH FESTIVAL CINEMA AFRICANO, BARI, ITALY, and the PAN AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL, LOS ANGELES 1996. His participation in over 13 African and international film festivals has won him accolades as one of the leading emerging African filmmakers. His co-produced and directed film, “Back Home Again” [35mm feature film] was reviewed by a renowned African film critic as “an impressive portrayal of the juxtaposed lives of brothers living in the UK and the living back home” “Back Home Again” was again reviewed in the book “African Experiences Of Cinema” edited by Imruh Bakari and Mbye Cham all celebrated film critics.
Koffi Nartey has also garnered international recognition for his participation in a Number of international productions such as “ALI’’ (Will Smith) directed by Michael Mann. BBC “Holby City”, Paramount Pictures Mission Impossible: 3 prep (Tom cruise) produced by Kevin De la Noy, National Geographies “Gold Fever” IMAX Production Docu drama, ‘’Our Lives’’ Saudi Arabia TV and others.
He has also directed several video films and Docu-dramas. His impressive carrier experience spans into Radio and TV commercials, live directed multi camera shows have also given him good working experience in Television production and broadcast. Currently a member of the NFA.
Koffi “Zokko” Nartey as he is affectionately called comes with a wealth of producing experience, having worked for the past 33 years in various roles in Ghana, West Africa, and the UK. Among projects, he has worked on lately as Producer, Casting Director, Line Producer Are “The Headmaster” (2013), The Destiny Of Lesser Animals” (2011) Warrior Queen by Hezekiah Lewis, Ghana Go-Kart Challenge Series, 1st Millennium Excellence Awards (1999) He is the CEO of Afripique, Zokko Productions, and My Photo Studio.
More recently, he was the screenplay written and the line producer for the film “the Headmaster “. He has turned his attention to building various institutions, guilds and associations within the Film Industry here in Ghana, working towards the training of younger up and coming Filmmakers. In this role he occupies the positions of the president of the Directors Guild of Ghana (DGG) and the secretary general of the Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts (GAFTA) also served on various boards, which Includes, The Board Of Governors of the National Film & Television Institute (NAFTI), The board of Happy Kids School And Also a Board Member African Voices Cinema Series.
He is also a member of the Cultural Forum and the Film and TV stakeholders committee on the national film authority’s legislative instrument currently a member of the board of NFA. His leadership skills are well respected in the industry as a whole.
