The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth wing of the Wa central constituency has embarked on a demonstration against leadership of the party for an alleged sabotage of the parliament candidate Hajia Humu Awudu.
According to them the Constituency Chairman, the MCE and the Upper West Regional Minister all campaigned against the NPP candidate in the run up to the elections which led to the NPP not winning the wa central constituency seat.
The NPP youth led by the Wa central constituency communication team Friday morning were invited by the Upper West Regional Minister to his residence for a possible solution to the planned demonstrations by the youth.
However the meeting ended inconclusive as the minister and constituency Chairman demanded for evidence of their accusations that they actually campaigned against the NPP candidate which further angered the youth.
The youth therefore returned to the NPP Youth secretariat to embark on a demonstration to register their displeasure.
Hajia Humu Awudu got of the NPP 33,340 votes while Dr Hassan Rashid Pelpuo of the NDC won with 39,542 in the 2020 parliamentary elections.
Nana Akuffo Addo got 23,663 votes while John Mahama also got 47,984 for the presidential elections.
According to the youth, the NPP could not even win at polling stations of the Regional Minister and the constituency Chairman which the youth say is worrying.
Leader of the group Alhassan Samad Dumbu called on the president elect Nana Akuffo Addo not to consider any of the people who allegedly sabotage their candidate in his appointment.
Meanwhile, on December 9 after the declaration, the MCE Alhaji Ishahaku Tahiru Moomen house was set ablaze by people believed to be youth of the NPP who burnt the house in protest against his alleged sabotage on the parliamentary candidate.
This is not the first time the MCE house has been attacked.
